Fertility Ultrasound Scan

At Fusion Healthcare, we offer an extensive Fertility ultrasound scan and blood test package targeted at women of child-bearing age who would like a comprehensive look at their fertility status. Detailed ultrasound scans of the reproductive organs are conducted; these scans provide us with information on the ovaries, the endometrial lining and the uterus; the available fertility blood test also provides valuable information about fertility related hormones. This package is especially helpful for those preparing to undergo/undergoing IVF treatment, trying to get pregnant or suspect underlying gynaecological problems.

Fertility ultrasound scans, otherwise known as pelvic ultrasounds or transvaginal ultrasounds, are a safe, quick, and non-invasive imaging procedure used in the evaluation of the female reproductive system. The scan is done with an ultrasound probe applied to your lower abdomen. If required you may also be offered a transvaginal scan (internal scan via the vagina) this scan is performed using a slender specialized wand. This scan should not be painful, although it may cause some discomfort.

Alongside the scan, Fusion Healthcare conducts a fertility to provide further support to your fertility treatment. Our fertility blood test provides information on many important

  • Complete Blood Count (RBCs, WBCs, Platelets, Haemoglobin)
  • Anti-Mullerian hormone (Measures AMH produced by developing eggs in the ovaries, indicates level of fertility)
  • Prothrombin time (evaluates patients coagulation pathway)
  • HIV, HBsAg, HCV, VDRL
  • Activated Partial Thromboplastin time (aPTT )

Ultrasounds aimed at assessing fertility may be valuable for you for a number of reasons, including:

  • If you have been trying to conceive without success, doctors may recommend a fertility evaluation which often includes ultrasound scans to assess for any issues
  • Irregular menstrual cycles or other signs of ovulatory dysfunction may benefit from ultrasound monitoring to evaluate follicular development and ovulation.
  • If you have a known history of conditions known to affect fertility such as PCOS, fibroids, or endometriosis ultrasounds may be valuable in assessing the extent of the impact on fertility, and to monitor the progression, if any, of the condition, especially during the fertility journey.
  • Couples considering assisted reproductive technologies (ART), like in vitro fertilization (IVF), often undergo a series of ultrasounds to monitor the response to fertility medications and to plan the timing of egg retrieval. These ultrasounds are performed at intervals, each scan is important to the fertility journey and allows for precise planning.

Additionally, at Fusion Healthcare we have an extensive range of blood tests if you would like any further information regarding your health.

If more information is required to help you along your fertility journey, Fusion Radiology offers a variety of specific blood tests which can aid you.
