Renal Function Profile
A renal profile is used to help diagnose and manage conditions affecting kidney (renal) function, this profile may also be used to screen someone who is at risk of developing kidney disease, or to monitor someone with known kidney disease.
Certain conditions increase the risk of developing kidney disease, risk factors include:
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Smoking
- Obesity
This test measures the levels of urea, creatine and certain proteins in the blood, these values are used to determine whether the kidneys are working properly.
